Steel hot- and cold-rolled
Are you wondering what the difference is between hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel? As the name suggests, the main difference is the type of thermo-mechanical treatment. Steel that is cold rolled has greater strength and tighter tolerances. It is used, among others, for the production of components, most often in the automotive industry. As opposite, hot-rolled steel is a plastic product often used to create structural elements of bridges and machines, but also in the automotive industry. Depending on the type, hot-rolled steels usually range in thickness from 1.9 mm to several dozen mm. The limitation in this area is only the form of delivery, because too thick tapes can only be delivered in the form of sheets or plates, while thinner ones can be delivered in coils.
Cold-rolled steels, meanwhile, mainly come in thicknesses ranging from 0.3 mm to 3.00 mm, also depending on the grade.
In fact, in the initial phase of rolling the slab, each steel is hot-rolled and then, if necessary, additionally subjected to heat treatment and cold rolling. This is most often related to nominal thicknesses below 2.00 mm and the need to achieve tight special thickness tolerances.
Hot dip Galvanized and structural steel
Galvanized steel can be both hot and cold rolled. Perfect for the industry and automotive industries. Its anti-corrosion properties are crucial for applications exposed to water and temperature differences.
Structural steel is used to build machines, bridges, rail vehicles and other structures. There are many types of structural steel - from general-purpose steel to nitrided steel
Low- and high-quality steels
Our offer includes low- and high-quality steel materials also. High-quality steel should be selected for investments or for use in applications in difficult conditions and exposed to high overloads. We know from experience that this material is most often used in the energy and automotive industries. Low-quality steels are most often used by our clients in simple structures or products not exposed to extreme operating (use) conditions.
